Effective Date: August 29, 2026
OUR COMMITMENT Ascent Dating (“Ascent Dating,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects
your privacy. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and
providing a safe and secure user experience. We will use our best efforts to
ensure that the information you submit to us remains private and is used only
for the purposes set forth herein. This policy details how data about you is
collected, used, and shared when you access our website, mobile applications,
and services (collectively, the “Services”).
APPLICABILITY OF PRIVACY POLICY & U.S. ONLY RESTRICTION This privacy policy
applies to all information we collect through our Services from current and
former Ascent Dating users and visitors. Ascent Dating operates exclusively
within the United States. Our Services are not intended for, and may not be used
by, individuals residing outside of the United States.
INFORMATION COLLECTED When you use the Services, you may be asked for certain
personal information, including your name, email address, zip code, phone
number, a copy of your valid government-issued identification, banking/Zelle
information (for survey incentive payouts), photo images (including selfies for
identity verification), and demographic information.
Post-Date Survey Data: As part of our Market Research Program, we collect
structured, post-date survey data (e.g., thumbs up/down, predefined tags)
submitted by users about their matches.
Our systems also automatically receive and record information on our server logs
from your browser or device, including your IP address, browser type, and cookie
information. We may also obtain information about you from third parties such as
identity verification and fraud prevention services. If you do not agree to our
collection of this information, you may be limited or restricted in the Services
available to you.
HOW ASCENT DATING USES PERSONAL DATA Ascent Dating uses this information to:
– Provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
– Train our proprietary matchmaking algorithms using post-date structured
survey data;
– Process survey incentive payouts via Zelle;
– Provide customer service and personalized content;
– Help protect the safety of Ascent Dating and its users, which includes
blocking suspected scammers, investigating abuse, and enforcing our Terms of
Use;
– Communicate with you about updates, security alerts, offers, and promotions;
– Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with the
Services.
WEBSITE VISITORS We gather information about all users collectively, such as
what areas users visit most frequently. We only use such data anonymously to
determine what is most beneficial for our users. Our Website may use third-party
analytics (such as Google Analytics) to collect and use data.
INFORMATION FROM MINORS We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or share
information from any individuals under the age of 18. Ascent Dating is strictly
for adults 18 and older.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & IDENTITY VERIFICATION (LIVENESS CHECK) As part of our
user verification process, Ascent Dating may share verification photos,
including “Selfie Liveness Checks,” with a third-party artificial intelligence
(“AI”) provider to verify user identities and prevent fraud. This data is
encrypted, stored securely, and used strictly for identity verification and
anti-fraud purposes. Ascent Dating also utilizes AI to train and flag user
content (such as messages) for possible violations of our Terms of Use.
COOKIES & DEVICE FINGERPRINTING We collect certain software and hardware
information from the devices you use to access our Services. This is used to
help identify you, for analytics, and to detect suspicious activity (such as
multiple accounts). We and our vendors also use cookies and tracking
technologies. Certain features are only available through the use of Cookies;
disabling them may limit your use of the Services. We currently do not respond
to Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals.
SHARING INFORMATION When you use the Services, certain information may be shared
with other users and the public.
– Public Profile: Other users will be able to see the information you choose
to put on your profile, including photos and demographic data.
– Survey Data is NOT Public: The post-date surveys collected by Ascent Dating
are strictly for internal algorithmic training and trust/safety
verification. Survey data will not be published publicly or shared directly
with your matches, except in aggregated/anonymized formats or as required by
law.
– Service Providers: We may share information with vendors, consultants,
payment processors, and identity verification services who need access to
such information to carry out work for us (See Appendix I).
– Legal & Safety: We may share information in response to a request for
information if we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal
process, or governmental request; or in response to an emergency if we
believe it is necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily harm to a
person.
ONLINE TRANSACTIONS & PAYMENTS When you make a purchase or receive a survey
incentive payout via Zelle, your financial details are encrypted. Our financial
transactions are processed by third-party payment processors in a secure
environment. If you dispute a payment with your financial institution or violate
our Terms of Use to fraudulently collect survey incentives, information
collected from your activity may be disclosed to banks, collections agencies, or
law enforcement for the purpose of establishing proof of identity and fraud
prevention.
PROTECTION & STORAGE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION Your personal information is
protected by physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in compliance with
applicable U.S. federal and state regulations. We use computer safeguards such
as firewalls and data encryption. Despite our efforts, we cannot guarantee that
personal information may not be accessed by breach of our safeguards. We urge
you to take adequate precautions to protect your personal data.
DATA RETENTION POLICY Ascent Dating is committed to data minimization. All user
data is retained as long as a user’s account is active, subject to permissible
retention exceptions.
– Survey Data Retention: We do not hold survey data indefinitely. Survey data
linked directly to your personally identifiable profile is retained only as
long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes of algorithmic
matchmaking, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
– Once a user’s account has been inactive for 365 days, user data is deleted,
subject to permissible retention exceptions (such as fraud prevention
records) permitted by applicable privacy laws.
STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS (Virginia, California, Colorado, Texas, etc.) Depending on
your state of residence—including but not limited to the Virginia Consumer Data
Protection Act (VCDPA) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)—you have
certain rights regarding your Personal Data.
1. Right to Know: You have the right to request information regarding the
categories of Personal Data we collect, use, or share.
2. Right to Equal Service: We will not discriminate against you for exercising
your privacy rights.
3. Right to Correct & Delete: You have the right to request correction or
deletion of your Personal Data.
4. No Sale of Data: Ascent Dating DOES NOT sell the Personal Data of our users.
DATA DELETION REQUESTS You may request the deletion of your personal data by
contacting us at info@ascentdating.com. Upon receiving a verified request, we
will delete your personal data within 30 to 45 days, subject to permissible
retention exceptions under applicable law (including to comply with legal
obligations, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect user safety).
– Exception for Anonymized Algorithmic Data: Because our survey responses
utilize structured, objective data points rather than open text, certain
survey data may be exempt from direct deletion if it has been fully
anonymized, stripped of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and
integrated into our AI training models.
UPDATING ACCOUNT INFORMATION & CHOICES You may change your personal information
at any time by logging into your Ascent Dating account. You may opt out of
receiving promotional communications from us by following the instructions in
those communications or updating your account settings. If you opt out, we may
still send you non-promotional communications, such as information about your
account, security alerts, or survey payout statuses.
CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY We may update this Privacy Policy from time to
time. We will place any updates to this policy on our website. You are bound by
any changes to the Privacy Policy by using the Services after such changes have
been posted.
